Nowadays, individuals are seeking out sustainable brands and becoming increasingly invested in the supply chain, not just the end product. In response, businesses have to make sure they are playing their part in protecting the planet and their communities.
Here are some quirky, sustainable brands who set an example for other businesses and make sustainability easier for the everyday consumer.
The Beeswax Wrap Co.
Looking for eco-friendly packaging that lasts? Then look no further than The Beeswax Wrap Co. Their mission is ‘to make a small but positive difference in a kind and thoughtful way’ and it is reflected from their products through to the way they work.
Their homemade, beeswax wraps are incredibly versatile and can be used for covering your plate of freshly baked biscuits to wrapping up that bouquet you want to gift to your mum. The wraps are reusable AND rewaxable as well as biodegradable and compostable, so they last a good, long time and don’t hurt our environment at the end of their lives.
If you take a look at the Beeswax Wrap Co website, you can feel how friendly the team behind the brand is as well as appreciate their transparency in every step of the process.

Batoko
If you’re looking for a brand that’s making the most out of waste, then Batoko is worth checking out. Batoko is a microbusiness who takes plastic waste and turns it into swimwear. Their collections are intentionally small to ensure that their production is sustainable and that they never overproduce.
The story of their humble beginnings started in 2017 during a beach clean volunteering. Now, they have recycled the equivalent weight of more than 300,000 plastic bottles into unique and durable swimwear. While exploring this brand, we learnt that they encourage ‘slow and considered purchases’, something we have not seen other businesses be vocal about, and we love it!
Take a dive into Batoko’s website and explore their beautiful pieces but also learn about their work in conserving and protecting marine life – because protecting the planet includes its oceans too.

Who Gives a Crap
Is it any surprise why we had to include Who Gives a Crap in this list? This toilet paper brand is the perfect combination of eco-friendly packaging, great product and witty branding. They’ve taken an otherwise mundane everyday essential and made it exciting.
Who Gives a Crap found their beginnings through a Crowdfund in 2012; now, they find their recyclable toilet paper in homes across the globe. They have a recycled toilet paper and a bamboo version, both of which are wrapped in recyclable packaging with funky prints. Did we mention they also donate 50% of their profits to ensuring access to clean water and toilets? Well, they do!
Take a moment to browse through the Who Gives a Crap website and you’ll be sure to leave with a smile, plenty of toilet trivia and jokes as well as an order of recycled toilet roll on the way.

BAM Bamboo Clothing
There are a few sustainable clothing brands which have caught our eye recently; however, we have to share BAM Bamboo Clothing with you. The company demonstrates a level of transparency and love for their product and people that we fully support and love to see from businesses.
BAM Bamboo Clothing does as the name suggests: they make women’s and men’s clothes out of bamboo. The brand explains how bamboo is a much more sustainable plant to grow and how it lends itself to being a performance fabric (they specialise in workout gear). Not only that, but they are also very open about their supply chain. They happily share the origins of their materials in sustainably managed bamboo forests, in China’s Chongquing Province, to their constant communications with their factory staff.
Check out BAM Bamboo Clothing’s website to learn more about the benefits of bamboo and the brand’s mission. They also have an insightful ‘Impact Positive: 2021 Annual Report’ which shares their current impact and plans as well as outlining their end goals.
These sustainable brand examples are an inspiration to the Elephant’s team. They show us that an accumulation of all the little things can make a big difference. Their transparency, dedication to making their products accessible, and planet-friendly missions are examples for other businesses to follow – and reasons for us to wholeheartedly support!
So, what are you waiting for? Take a look at these brands and while you’re here, have a look at our work with other planet-friendly businesses.
